About Jess

My term on Bexley City Council started in 2020. I have served as the Chair of Zoning and DeveIopment and am currently the Chair of Park and Recreation. I am the current liaison to The Recreation Board and Bexley Education Foundation. I was born and raised in Muncie, Indiana, surrounded by a large, loving, supportive family.  Indiana University is where I continued my education and passion for community service and leadership. I am a proud graduate of Indiana University with a BA in Political Science, Telecommunications, and Communications. I have 15 years of of business experience in sales & marketing with E&J Gallo Winery (Chicago, Illinois), Boston Scientific (Boston, MA), Wallroos Wallgraphics (Owned and Operated Columbus, Ohio), and Infinity Info Systems (New York City). I held management, training, and leadership positions in these companies as well as had extensive training in collaborating and effective communication.  I was recognized by these companies for ingenuity, energy, spirit, and commitment to leadership and excellence.

My husband Adam (St. Charles graduate, 1996) and I choose Bexley as our home 15 years ago when we were a month from welcoming our oldest son.  We lived up the street from Maryland Elementary for 5 years before we welcomed our 3rd child.  We have been a part of Bexley Schools the past 8 years, where two of our children currently attend.  Our oldest is starting his high school education at St. Charles this fall.

I feel blessed to have made the decision to buy our first home in Bexley, Ohio.  I have been involved in this community since we moved here and am elated by the progress, change, and improvements to our great city these past 15 years.  I have had the opportunity to work with DARN/ Shop Hop, serve as President of the Bexley Mother’s Center, 5 year rider for Team Bexley for Pelotonia, serve on Team Bexley Leadership Team, served as 2019 Chair of BRAVO!, Bexley Education Foundation’s largest fundraiser, netting $135,000 for Bexley schools. I have been involved in the Bexley Home and Garden Tour, Jack Roth 5K, Splish Splash & Dash Triathlon, Montrose Art Fair, Restore Elikia, St. Catherines Fun Fest, Bexley Big League, Coach for Bexley Park and Recreation youth sports, Bexley United Methodist Preschool, Jewish Community Preschool, and Columbus School for Girls preschool.

I have been busy working hard for Bexley these past 4 years. I have enjoyed working with the city on bike rack installments throughout the 43209, securing a Bexley Community Foundation grant to showcase local female artists work in bike racks along Main Street, working with our local Bexley Library & Franklin County Auditor Michael Stinziano on community programming, hosting EDUTAINMENT for continued council commitment with DEI training, helping secure and support our outdoor Bexley Ice Rink, working with Park and Recreation on Teen programming, and representing council in City of Columbus Govern 2.0. I have been proud during my 4 years to support the completion of the Jeffrey Mansion Expansion Project, Schneider Park Athletic Fields and Splash pad, Bexley Dog Park (Lucky is enjoying let’s set up a playdate), Commonwealth East and West athletic fields, Bexley City Charter renewal, investments in sustainability & police department, flower baskets and planters throughout Bexley, and Holiday lights on Drexel Circle and Main Street. My lifetime of leadership, community, and business experiences have given me the confidence to stand alone, the courage to make tough decisions, and the compassion to listen to the needs of others.  I have enjoyed being your voice “Bexley” on city council.
